3. The Baby Shower

And now another edition of how to be manly. Today lesson number 5375. You're happy in your job as supervisor of a large warehouse. You've worked hard to get to your position and you have the respect of all around you. You are supervisor for a warehouse which employs thirty-seven men -- and one woman. This one woman has a rather, shall we say, "loose" reputation. You've seen the heavy flirting that goes on between her and the guys but you figure that it's none of your business and as long as she keeps doing her job well, which she has been, then you're not going to get involved. Then the expected thing happens. She comes into your office one day and quietly sits down. She says that she is pregnant Three months pregnant, in fact. She says that she's not interested in causing any trouble but instead she thinks that it would be a great idea if all of the guys in the warehouse threw her a baby shower. You nearly spit your coffee across the room. "a baby shower?" you say to yourself, "yeah, I'd really like to see thirty-seven sweaty warehouse workers try to throw a baby shower!" You want to let this young lady know how you feel about such a preposterous idea but how can you go about accomplishing this in a manly manner? Follow along in your manly manual, page 5368, and repeat after me:

  1. Great idea! I can't wait to find out who the father is. And I bet you can't either!

  2. Wow, now there's a switch! All of the guys giving you a shower for a change!

  3. You know, a lot of people these days are naming their children after the place of conception. but I guess "In The Tool Shed Underneath The Drill Press" would sound kind of stupid, huh?

Use any of the above phrases in just such a situation and later, when you find it very difficult to extract your head from a certain portion of your rear anatomy, after the young lady has a three-hundred-pound guy named Bubba stuff it there, you can rest assured that she will have no doubts as to what kind of man you really are. Until next time, this is Mr. Manly saying be manly and good day.
