Friday, May 11 -- Last day of school for students!

Sr. High JV softball will host Kingman for make-up games starting at 4 p.m.

 

 

 

Sunday, May 13

Sr. High boys' golf team will travel to Ellinwood in preparation for their Regional meet.

 

 

 

Monday, May 14 

Inservice/work day for teachers.

 

Board of Education meeting will be at 7:30 p.m.

 

Sr. High softball team will host their Regional Softball Tournament but have earned a bye.

 

Sr. High boys' golf have earned a bye in their Regional tournament in Ellinwood.

 

 

 

Tuesday, May 15

Inservice/work day for teachers.

 

Sr. High Regional softball will play at 3 p.m.  They will be playing the winner between Belle Plaine and Halstead.

 

Sr. High baseball team will travel to Minneola for their Regional Baseball Tournament.  They will play Udall at 4:30 p.m.The team will leave at 11:45 a.m.

 

 

 

Wednesday, May 16

Inservice/work day for teachers.

 

 

 

Friday, May 18

Sr. High track team will travel to Greensburg for their Regional track meet that starts at 3 p.m.  Travel times are not available.

 

 

 

Saturday, May 19

Child Identification "Chip" program will be 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge.  This is sponsored by Delta Lodge 77 and the Medicine Lodge Police Department.

 

 

 

Sunday, May 20

Sr. High boys' golf will travel to Seneca for the State Golf Tournament.

 

 

 

Monday, May 21

Sr. High State golf will compete in the State Golf Tournament in Seneca.

 

 

 

Friday, May 25

Sr. High State track team will travel to Wichita for the State meet at WSU.

 

Sr. High baseball team will travel to Emporia for their State tournament.

 

Sr. High softball team will travel to Manhattan for their State tournament.

 

 

 

Saturday, May 26

Sr. High State track meet in Wichita/WSU

Tuesday, May 29

First day of girls' basketball camp with Coach Lowell Dohrmann.  The camp will continue through Friday, June 1, and will be broken into age groups of 4th through 6th graders, 7th and 8th graders, and high school students.  

 

 

 

Monday, June 4

American Red Cross Blood Drive will be at our school since the United Methodist Church is undergoing some remodeling.  

            -- Each donor will get a free Rock and Roll themed t-shirt.

            -- Any donor ages 16 to 21 will automatically be entered for a chance to win a $5000 scholarship!

            -- An additional scholarship opportunity is available for a couple students who would be willing in "co-coordinating" the drive by recruiting volunteers to sign up, get publicity out, and encouraging donors.

 

 

 

 

Notes from Counselor Cheryl Theis

Summer jobs are available with Venture Corp., an asphalt paving company.  Applicants must be 18 years old and have a valid driver's license with a good driving record.  A two-day safety training/orientation meeting is required.  Successful applicants will work 5-6 days a week from sunrise to sunset.  Contact Leslie at 620-792-5921 or ventureoff@hotmail.com for an application.

Free sports physicals are available Mondays through Thursday through August 23 at Medicine Lodge Clinic.

 

 

 

           

Enviro-Notes -- We are now using SUMMER HOURS for the Recycling Center!

            Please note that the Thursday hours for the Recycling Center have changed to the MORNING hours of 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.  This is in anticipation of the VERY warm days that make that metal building pretty unbearable for Mr. Wright.  

            And speaking of heat, we have been asked to remind everyone to rinse out milk cartons thoroughly as the heat tends to make them very ... uhhh ... let's go with "fragrant"!

 

RECYCLING CENTER HOURS --  now using summer hours!

 

                  Tuesdays -- 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.  

                  Thursdays -- 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

                  Saturdays -- 9 a.m. to noon with a volunteer available to help unload and sort your recyclables. 

 

E-WASTE RECYCLING HOURS:

Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Barber County Conservation Office on West Third Street (near T.O. Haas Tire).  As you enter the office, just ask to speak to Cheryl Davis and she will unlock the collection trailer for your items to be stored securely for recycling.  

 

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE RECYCLING/DISPOSAL (like paint, cleaners, and other chemicals) HOURS:

Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Solid Waste Collection area on Isabel Road.  Make sure to go into their office to ask someone to check in your items.  If you need paint, auto-related items, household cleaners, etc., you are welcome to see if someone has turned in an item you can use.  Just go out to their office on Isabel Road (south of Community Bible Fellowship Church during their business hours and ask Solid Waste Director David Ring if you can eyeball what they have!  Here is a list of the items they accept for recycling -- and would be glad to let you have, if you have a need for them:
