The Finnish Spitz presents a fox like feature.  The breed has long
been used to hunt small game and birds, But was not a recognized
breed by the American Kennel Club until 1988.

The pointed muzzle, small erect ears and curled tail denote it's
northern heritage. The Finnish Spitz as a whole shows livelyness,
which is especially evident in the eyes ears and tail. Males are
decidedly masculine without courseness the the bitch is decidedly
feminine without over-refinement.

Their most important charactoristic is their square, well balanced
body that is symetrical with no exagerated features. They have
a beautiful reddish brown coat, a bold carriage and brisk move-
ment.

The Finnish Spitz, being the national dog of Finland, was accepted
into the AKC stud book since 1987.

In Finland, contests are held annually, to select a King Barker. The

personality and loyal disposition. With the exception of Finland,
they are considered house dogs. He has functioned since the early
