1 Large can stewed tomatoes chopped

1 small can tomato paste

2 clove segments of garlic-chopped fine

1 medium can ortega green chile

1 small bundle green onion - chopped

1 small bundle celantro - chopped

1 small yellow onion - diced

1 tsp. oregano

1/4 cup vinegar

salt and pepper to taste

Mix together in a blender

(This is my husbands recipe and he has been changing it over time.

Each time he thinks this is the best until he has an idea to change an ingredient.)

Chocolate Frosting

1/4 cup melted Crisco

1/2 cup Cocoa

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup milk

1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

3 1/2 cups confectioners sugar (sifted)

Combine melted Crisco, cocoa and salt;

then add milk and vanilla. Mix in sugar in 3 parts.

Mix until smooth and creamy.

Add more sugar to thicken or milk to thin, if necessary.

Frosts two 8 or 9 inch layers

Soft Chocolate Cookies

Mix together 1/2 cup of soft shortening

1 cup sugar

1 egg

Stir in 3/4 cup of milk

1 tsp. vanilla

Sift together and stir in 2 cups flower

1/2 tsp. baking soda

1/2 tsp. salt

Add chocolate chips

Chill dough at least 3 hours

Drop by rounded teaspoons about 2 inches apart

on ungreased cookie sheet and bake

at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes.

Bohemian Pastry

1/2 pound of butter

3 cups of all purpose flower

1/4 tsp. salt

1 tsp. baking powder

3 egg yolks

1 cup sour cream

Rub butter into mixed and sifted dry ingredients

Beat egg yokes

Add cream

Mix into dry ingredients to make pastry

Refrigerate overnight

Roll, cut solid circles for the bottom

add fruit filling

top with same size circle but with a hole cut in the center

(I use a wide mouth shot glass for the base and use a thimble to cut out the center of the top circle, but I am sure you can find something more appropriate)

Bake at 400 degrees until lightly brown -

 approximately 20 minutes

Dust with powdered sugar when removed from oven

Papa's Farm Beans

2 - 28 oz. cans of pork and beans

1/3 cup light corn syrup

1/3 cup maple syrup

1/3 cup of molasses

1/3 cup ketchup

10 dashes Worcestershire

Mix and pour into a long flat, 3 quart casserole

20 small spring onions or 4 medium onions quartered.

1 large green pepper, slivered

Trim the green stems from spring onions and

peel the white part. Place the white onions and

green pepper on top of the beans. Do not stir.

Bake 45 minutes at 350 degrees.

Onions and peppers will brown.

Cut bacon slices in half or smaller

and cover casserole top with bacon.

Return to oven and bake 1 hour at 350 degrees.
